Venil D. Josephs, affectionately known as Joe and Mass Bam was born on September 12, 1934, to parents Dinsdale and Benjamina in St. Ann Parish, Jamaica West Indies. Joe was raised by his grandmother Antomina Palmer who loved him dearly.

Joe was educated in the Rio Bueno public school system. After school he began his career in construction. During the early years on the job Joe befriended the heavy equipment operators who taught him how to operate the large equipment. That experience afforded him a job opportunity with the Jamaican Department of Public Works where he traveled the country building the Jamaican infrastructure one road at a time.

In 1975 Joe married Greta Barrett. The family migrated to the United States in 1978, where they settled in Morristown, NJ.

Shortly after Joe was employed by Cargille Laboratories where he worked diligently until he retired.

Joe enjoyed preparing authentic Jamaican dishes for his family. He got a special thrill preparing favorite dishes like Ackee and Saltfish for his grandkids, making sure there was enough to take some home.

He loved wrestling, sparing with the TV and calling every move was his expertise.

Joe is Survived by his wife, Greta; children, Paulette, Vinnell (Towanna), Debby, Christopher and Shawnn (Malika); grandchildren, Horace, Stafford, Andrea, Vinnell Jr, Damari, Taylor, Donte, Jeremy, Ashley and Anthony; and ten Great Grandchildren; sisters, Sheila, Margaret, Claudette, and Donna; and host of cousins and extended family, to whom he was lovingly know as “Mass Bam” Joe lived life to the fullest. He will be remembered as a shining light in the many lives he touched.
